    Sri Lanka largest COVID treatment facility constructed by Army nearing completion

    The Sri Lanka Army is nearing completion on the construction of the largest COVID-19 treatment hospital in Seeduwa.

    Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said the measure has been taken to address the current shortage of beds to treat Covid patients due to the third wave of the coronavirus.

    He said 2500 beds have already been setup, while they intend to set up another 5000 beds in the next 3-4 days.

    The emergency medical facility is made up of several isolation wards and it can hold up to 1,200 patients at any given time. (NewsWire)
